Head Coach Ready Cohort: Six Sessions and a Mock Committee of Sitting Athletic Directors
You can read everything about how a search works and still not know how you come across in the room until someone who hires head coaches tells you. Most coaches find out in the real interview, once, and get no feedback afterward beyond a polite phone call. The Head Coach Ready Cohort puts you in front of that room before it counts.
Ten coaches. Six live sessions over twelve weeks. Weekly work between them. It ends with a capstone mock committee of sitting athletic directors who interview you, watch your case presentation, and score you on the rubric real committees use.
Who it is for
Current head coaches preparing to move up a level or to a stronger program, and coordinators or associate head coaches within two cycles of a head job. January through March, so the file is built and tested before the spring and the following carousel.
The six sessions (90 minutes each, live by video)
- 1. The market and the file. How committees read you now, your target list, and the Value Add file you will build over the next twelve weeks.
- 2. The program plan. Building the six-part plan for a specific program, from their materials, with the trade-offs committees score.
- 3. Staff and roster. The staff you would build and the roster philosophy that survives the portal, NIL, and a bottom-third budget.
- 4. The committee. The nineteen questions, the four-part answer, and live practice with feedback from the group.
- 5. References, the offer, and the first 90 days. The nine calls, your four numbers, your two asks, and the plan you hand the AD.
- 6. The capstone. A mock committee of sitting athletic directors: finalist interview, case presentation with questions, teach the room. Scored independently and debriefed.
Between sessions
- A weekly email with the work for the week, the resource that goes with it, and feedback on what you submitted.
- The Teaching Cycle, included, for the teach-the-room session.
- The Problem Set, included, for the case presentation.
- A cohort of ten peers who are going through the same thing and will tell you the truth about your answers.
What you leave with
- A Value Add file, a program plan for a real target, a staff plan, a reference portfolio, and nineteen answers you have said out loud to people who hire.
- Scores and written feedback from athletic directors on how you actually come across in a finalist room.
- Athletic directors who have now seen you work, which is how a lot of searches start.
